Great,
my first blog and the chance to write before my head explodes. Job=sh1t, need a change, career uncertain and housemates positively annoying. Hence my chosen name "stuck in a rut". My aim is to write down my issues and hopefully that will make them a little easier to resolve.
I have an interview tomorrow for a company based in Malaysia. Oooooh I hear you think but I have concerns about how legitimate they are. I am supposedly training to be a financial advisor and have been told there is a basic wage of 20-30k per year. Sounds good although the banding part concerns me. Why not just say "you're on 20k?! I'd be happy with that.
Right now,my concern is more with my housemates - 2 girls. One of them works in Starbucks and has just moved into our shared house. Now, I'd consider myself pretty easy going, and try to accomodate anyone. However, she seems to have moved in with the idea that she is "bottom of the pile" in terms of a house hierarchy and has tried to resolve this by putting me down at every opportunity. It's not hard to see why - my other housemate is a bloke who is 6 ft 7 and about the same wide (so you'd better be friendly with him!) and the other a girl so she wants to "bond" with her. I used to get on really well with the other girl but now it feels like they both "have an attitude" when around me. There's a few reasons why I feel uncomfortable around the newbie;

1) she witters on about her employer (Starbucks) at every opportunity. This includes the intricasies of the policies they have and what she does on a daily basis (she's a manager). I wouldnt mind this once every so often but I'm begininng to feel like I'm now an expert on the administration of Starbucks.

2) This might sound petty but she literally purrs like a cat when she breathes. I cant explain it but I can hear her "purring" when she's walking to the bathroom etc. God that feels harsh!

3) The most relevant point is probably the fact she is quite rude. and also very over-confident. It's almost as if she sees me being nice to her as being weak. I'm not sure how to solve this at the moment. Maybe I'll just stay out of her way!
